Fall has settled in, and it’s been a full and meaningful season at Prairie Gleaners. In this issue, we’re highlighting several food shipments that travelled across the globe, celebrating our partnership with the Medicine Hat College nursing students, and reflecting on the impact and success of our Harvest Dinner fundraiser. There’s lots to share as we look back on a busy autumn of serving together.
Shipments in Fall 2025
- July 30 – Lifeline Canada took 120 bags to Ukraine
- September 5 – Faith Missions took 3,360 bags to Ukraine
- September 30 – Elevate Hope International took 40 bags to rural Cuba
- October 24 – Faith Missions took 3,360 bags to Ukraine
Medicine Hat College – 2nd Year Nursing Students
For eight weeks this fall, we were fortunate to have the second-year nursing students from Medicine Hat College volunteer with us on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. As part of their curriculum, students are required to be involved in the community—and what a great partnership it has been!
Harvest Dinner – October 25
The Harvest Dinner held on October 25 was a truly memorable evening. A wonderful roast beef supper (thank you, Jeff), paired with inspiring stories, made it a special event.
Our guests—Linda (Eldon), Miriam, Deanna, and Mel (Shirley)—shared their experiences of taking our finished product in their suitcases to Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Tanzania. Their stories offered a meaningful glimpse into how our veggie mix impacts people and communities far beyond Medicine Hat.
This event also serves as an important fundraiser. We’re pleased to share that the Silent Auction raised $4,438.00. Thank you to everyone who contributed items and to all who did some “shopping” that night.
Donations given at the event totalled $15,095.00, and additional gifts have since come in through e-transfers and cheques. Thank you so much for your generous financial support.
